Biographical Note:

Steve Hadley served as assistant to the president for national security affairs (NSA) from 2005 to 2009.  In that role, Hadley functioned as the principal foreign policy advisor to George W. Bush, including during the decision-making process and implementation of the Surge. Hadley served as deputy national security advisor from 2001 to 2005 under then National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice. Since the 1970s, Mr. Hadley alternated between roles in the government service and law practice, including terms of service as assistant secretary of defense under George Bush (1989-93) and on the National Security Council staff under Gerald Ford (1974-77).
