Year I joined Office of Admission: 2023
Favorite thing about SMU: My favorite thing about SMU is the way it makes every student feel like they belong. When I first moved onto campus my freshman year, I didn’t know anyone. This excited me as I attended college out of state specifically for this experience, but when my parents left, reality definitely started to settle in. However, I didn’t have time to even start to get nervous before my residential commons hosted the largest water balloon fight I had ever been a part of. By the end of my first day, I had an entire group of budding friendships with people I still talk to today, four years later. Home is where the Hilltop is.
Favorite place on campus: This is one of the hardest questions to answer, but I think I have to go with the Dallas Hall Lawn. When I was searching for colleges as a high school senior and narrowing down my options, one thing that became really important to me was my ability to picture myself walking around and living my daily life on campus. SMU topped every option on my list, and I truly think that was because of our Dallas Hall Lawn. Every day, without fail, students are studying together, walking their dogs, going on picnics, boulevarding, etc. In my mind, it’s SMU’s signature!
Favorite place in Dallas: There is ALWAYS something to do in the Dallas Arts District. I’m a big art-lover, so I may be a little bit biased, but any time I bring a friend there, they beg me to take them back!! Lots of food and entertainment options, and the best part is…. it only takes 15 minutes to get there!
What I recommend during your stay in Dallas: I have to use one of these questions to brag about the food scene in Dallas. Some of my favorite restaurants that are SMU student classics are: Penne Pomodoro in Snider Plaza, Mi Cocina in Highland Park Village, Il Bracco at the Preston Center, and HG Supply Co. on Greenville.
