Shandon Klein

Research Interests:
Through her research, Shandon desires to bridge the gap between the “ivory tower” of academia and the living out of faith in Christian communities. She is interested in studying the ethic of risk prevalent in the lives of Black women as described in the works of ethicists Katie Cannon and Sharon Welch and determining whether there may be a correlation between the ethic of risk and infused virtues.

Road to the Moody School:
Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, Shandon graduated with a B.A. in biology and chemistry from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2009 and an M.S. in biotechnology enterprise from Johns Hopkins University in 2012. She credits God with leading her from her biomedical pursuit to a position at First United Methodist Church Richardson in 2016, where she recognized her call to ministry. She completed her Master of Divinity degree at SMU’s Perkins School of Theology in 2021. In her leisure time, Shandon loves music, dancing, Enneagram study and spending time with her husband, Shane, and her pets.
