Biographical Note

James Siekmeier (Cornell MA, Class of 1989, Cornell PhD, Class of 1993) is an Associate Professor or History at West Virginia University. He teaches courses on U.S. history, the history of U.S. foreign relations, and Latin America and the World. He researches and writes about U.S. foreign relations, the intersection of nationalism and globalization, and more specifically U.S. relations with poorer and smaller nations. He has received several grants and wards including the Franklin Travel Award from the American Philosophical Society (2020) and the Fulbright Senior Scholar Award (1996-97, 2002).
