I am a PhD student in Cultural and Medical Anthropology track. My research interests include medical anthropology, environmental anthropology, visual anthropology, anthropology and gender, political economy, and political ecology, all of which shape my academic work. Currently, I am working on my PhD thesis, which explores why people often neglect non-life-threatening conditions such as ocular diseases. I aim to gather narratives and perspectives from patients to understand the decision-making processes behind why eye care is frequently overlooked. My research examines the cultural and social factors that influence these choices and how they shape patients' approach to managing ocular conditions. Shakhawat prefers to be called 'Akash'.
