Archaeology Research Collections
The Archaeology Research Collections at SMU (ARC@SMU) includes 3,000 cubic feet of archaeological collections and archives currently housed within the Heroy Science Hall on the SMU campus. These collections were generated as the result of excavation and survey under the direction of Fred Wendorf from 1958 to 1991. Additional collections are the result of faculty research and private donations.
Collections include archaeological materials from 162 projects and over 2,500 archaeological sites that are now destroyed or underwater. They were generated during a unique time in the history of American archaeology and they include artifacts and records that are vital to our understanding of Texas history and prehistory.
