My name is Genevieve Soucek, and I am a third-year cultural anthropology Ph.D. student. My current research interests include environmental conservation, linguistic preservation and revitalization, community engagement, and belonging in Europe, focusing on the U.K.
For my dissertation research, I am interested in looking at how people living in the Outer Hebrides navigate a sense of belonging regarding place-making and community connectedness in the midst of environmental changes and linguistic revitalization efforts.
