I attended undergrad at Rio Hondo College before transferring to CU-Boulder and then doing study abroad in Regensburg, Germany before the pandemic began. As a result of the pandemic, I had to come home early, but the experience definitely left an impact on me. Mainly, it inspired a curiosity about transmigration among Mexicans to Germany and vice versa. This was further reinforced by my own family's history of migration. As a result, my MA-thesis focused on Germans in the Municipality of Chapala, where my family is from. I hope to look at Mexicans in Germany for my PhD and their formation of place and identity, as well as potential generational differences between newly arrived migrants and their offspring.
