Guided by the Holy Spirit, the Director of Children and Youth collaborates closely with the Visitors and Evangelism Ministry (V&E), Christian Formation (CF), Communications Ministry and the pastor to expand the ministries of the First Presbyterian Church of Grapevine to the surrounding community and youth.

Through teaching and service, the Director of Children and Youth conducts the FPCGV vision of spreading God’s Word tailored to the unique needs of the youth. The Director of Children and Youth builds and maintains relationships throughout the local community articulating the essential tenets of Christian Reformed Faith.

The Director of Children and Youth (“DCY”) will provide a welcoming and loving atmosphere for people wherever they are on their life's journey (people of every age, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, economic or family status, mental or physical abilities).  The DCY develops, coordinates, and recruits teams of volunteer ministry leaders while working harmoniously, effectively, and confidentially with church members. 

Working closely with the Christian Formation Ministry responsibilities include background checks, curriculum development and programming. This also includes planning and publicizing Christian Formation and Youth events which includes communicating effectively with youth using personal contact, social media, and other forms of communication to engage Youth and Young Adults in the congregation. The DCY will lead, facilitate, and attend middle school and high school programs.

The DCY is an energetic person of integrity, Christian faith and character who models the Christian lifestyle, and encourages participation in the church. The Director of Children and Youth shall collaborate closely with the Pastor/ Head of Staff to ensure adequate time for the vital aspects of a healthy, balanced life.

FUMCR Youth Ministry offers a welcoming, purposeful and fun atmosphere where students (7th grade through college) can find a place to grapple with the difficult questions of faith and emerge as young adults with purpose and a heart for service. This position is highly relational and requires establishing and building relationships with students and their parents. Involves collaborating to dream, plan and implement youth programs which include United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF), Bible study, service projects, and youth trips/events/outings.
