Resources for Staff Working at SMU


SMU Email

SMU email can be accessed via webmail.smu.edu. In addition, email clients such as Outlook, Outlook for Mac, Thunderbird, Apple Mail and others can be configured to retrieve mail from the SMU servers. Mail clients can also be configured on cellular phones and tablet devices.


SMU VPN

The Virtual Private Network, or VPN, allow you to securely access specific resources that are restricted to the SMU Network.


Remote Desktop

Remote Desktop connections allow you to connect to your office computer from another computer. Once the connection is established, you have access to all of the applications and files on your computer in addition to your local computer resources, such as printing, clipboard, and accessing local drives.


Network Drives

If you need to work away from campus, learn how to use and map your Network Drives.


Duo

Duo multi-factor authentication helps protect your SMU account and information.


Technology Orders

Need to upgrade your computer or add a webcam. Technology orders can be placed through the Online Ordering Portal.


my.SMU

my.SMU hosts all employee and student data for the University. Employees are automatically granted Employee Self Service which grants access to view personal information, paychecks and other information related to that individual only.


HR Information

HR provides support, education, and services to the SMU community in Talent Acquisition and Management, Employee Health and Wellness, and more.

Skype for Business

Skype for Business provides instant messaging and communication services for campus.


Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams allows for messaging, Team collaboration and services for campus.


Zoom

Zoom provides easy-to-use, high-definition video/audio conferencing to faculty and students on almost any device.


Mailing Lists

Mailing Lists can be created for committees, departments and events using both SMU and external email addresses. There are a number of configuration options available for mailing lists. All of these options are easily managed via a web interface.

SharePoint Online is a collaborative web based technology using Microsoft Sharepoint Online and is available faculty and staff. It is a powerful solution for committees, internal research and file collaboration with SMU colleagues.

Computers and printers are ordered, installed, repaired and recycled by IT.

IT Training
