Have you used Peer-to-Peer (P2P) file sharing software to download or share music, books, or movies? Have you installed file sharing software (e.g., Gnutella, LimeWire Ares, eDonkey, BitTorrent etc.) on your computer, and have tried to remove it but have been unable to? Have you been contacted by the SMU IT Help Desk or by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) indicating that they have received a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) notice requesting that you remove copyrighted files from your computer? This page will help you understand more about copyright and the DMCA, and how SMU responds to DMCA notices.
