Muralidhar Madabhushi Balaji
Ph.D. candidate, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Research Interests:
Muralidhar’s research focuses on forming images of objects obscured by scattering media, such as walls or fog. His work utilizes the coherence of laser emission to model light propagation through these medias, which develops experimental techniques for imaging obscured objects. Through his research, he hopes to unlock unconventional imaging capabilities, like looking around corners and navigating in dense fog.
Road to the Moody School:
Muralidhar received a Bachelor of Technology in electronics and instrumentation engineering in 2014 from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in Hyderabad, India, and his M.S. in electrical engineering from SMU in 2018. Afterward, he interned at the DLP Group and Kilby Labs in 2019 and Texas Instruments (TI) in 2021. During his internships at TI, he developed
novel algorithms for lensless display applications using TI’s mems-based phase modulator.
