Muhammad Hashir Syed
Ph.D. candidate, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Hashir’s research focuses on the application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the next generation wireless networks. He has worked on empirically characterizing the wireless channels between UAV-UAV nodes, UAV-ground nodes and UAV-underground nodes. Hashir aims to develop channel models for UAVs that could be utilized to improve wireless communication performance.
ROAD TO THE MOODY SCHOOL:
Hashir received a B.E. degree in electronics engineering in 2015 from the Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology, Pakistan. Then, he received an M.S. degree in electrical-electronics engineering in 2018 from Istanbul Medipol University, Turkiye. Before joining SMU as a Ph.D. student in 2019, he worked as a special scientist (research assistant) at the University of Cyprus, Cyprus. In his free time, he loves playing guitar, cooking and spending time with his wife and son.
