Current Provost Faculty Fellows

The Office of the Provost has up to five Faculty Fellows actively engaged in project work during the calendar year. Each Fellow's work is unique to the their expertise and the University's needs.

    Susana Solera Adoboe

    Faculty Fellow for SMU Internationalization Steering Committee 

    Dr. Susana Solera Adoboe is a senior Spanish lecturer in the Department of World Languages and Literatures at Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences, specializing in cognitive sciences, psycholinguistics, and Spanish language instruction. She holds a Ph.D. in psychology from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and has extensive teaching experience, having developed online courses, and received multiple H.O.P.E. teaching award nominations. Her research, focusing on language processing, acquisition, and teaching, has been published, and she has served in various administrative roles, including Secretary of the Faculty Senate and as President of the Commission on the Status of Women at SMU.

    Faculty Fellow project
    Dr. Solera Adoboe, in her role as a Provost Faculty Fellow, has been actively engaged in the Internationalization ACE Lab, closely collaborating with the Office of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness (IPE). Her primary responsibility has been to facilitate and assist in drafting the Internationalization report, and moving forward, will develop assessment strategies and methodologies and collaborate with the IPE in evaluating educational programs.

    Francesca Go

    Faculty Fellow for Diversity and Inclusion

    Francesca Go has worked at SMU since 2005 and currently serves as assistant dean of assessment and accreditation in the Simmons School of Education and Human Development. She received her Ph.D. in special education with emphasis on behavioral disorders from the University of North Texas. Dr. Go's research, teaching and service interests center on ensuring all teachers have the pedagogical and behavioral knowledge to teach every student successfully, regardless of their ability and became the Faculty Fellow for Diversity and Inclusion in October 2023.

    Fellow Fellow Project 
    As faculty fellow, Dr. Go is helping schools develop and implement consistent and transparent promotion guidelines for teaching and research faculty. She has also begun to work with faculty and SMU's Academic Development of Student-Athletes department to help address challenging student behavior and learning needs in the classroom.

    Lin Lin Lipsmeyer

    Faculty Fellow for Communications and Research

    Lin Lin Lipsmeyer is a professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Simmons School of Education and Human Development. Dr. Lipsmeyer has also been serving as the Development Editor-in-Chief of one of the top journals in educational research, Educational Technology Research and Development (ETR&D).     Faculty Fellow project
    As the Provost Faculty Fellow for Communications and Research, Dr. Lipsmeyer is working closely with Dr. Suku Nair, vice provost for research and chief innovation officer. Dr. Lipsmeyer communicates with the staff members of Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) as well as SMU faculty and research center directors. The goals are to bridge communications and improve the SMU community's research productivity.

  • Headshot of Karen Lupo

    Karen Lupo

    Faculty Fellow for Moody School of Graduate and Advanced Studies

    Karen Lupo, Ph.D. came to SMU in 2012 and is a full professor in the Department of Anthropology. Her expertise is in prehistoric human-animal interactions, the study of ancient animal bones (zooarchaeology and taphonomy), the evolution of technology, the prehistory of Arica, and hunter-gatherers past and present. Dr. Lupo has published 50+ articles and book chapters and has received funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Geographic Society and Leakey Foundation.

    Faculty Fellow project
    Dr. Lupo's Fellow project is for the Moody School of Graduate and Advanced Studies. This project involves identifying long-term, transformative priorities and developmental objectives for the school as a basis for developing a strategic plan.
