Instructional Continuity Options
SMU has a number of technology tools and resources. Below are a list of those that may be most helpful to you during a campus disruption.
1. Email Communication
Faculty can easily email their entire class via my.SMU.

2. Canvas
Canvas is the online course management system at SMU. It allows faculty to post class announcements, assignments, discussion boards, and more. Classes are automatically created in Canvas. Faculty and students are automatically enrolled in their courses.

3. Zoom
Zoom is a cloud-based audio/video conferencing tool. It allows faculty to connect up to 50 students through simple online meetings in an easy-to-use platform.
4. Panopto
Panopto is a tool to create, edit, store, and share videos that also seamlessly integrates into Canvas courses.

5. Playposit
Playposit allows faculty to insert questions, facts, or links to websites in a video they create or a video found online such as from YouTube. From inside of Canvas, instructors can create an assignment that requires students to interact with the video they watch.
