Persons not associated with the University as members of the faculty, staff, or student body are normally welcome on the University campus as visitors. This includes visitors to the various offices through which the University normally deals with the public, such as Admissions, Registrar, Personnel Department, and Purchasing, as well as the offices of academic administrators, faculty, and staff members who are serving as hosts to particular visitors. It also includes persons who are participating in any activity, function or program, either by invitation or by ticket of admission.
2. Conduct Violations and Trespassing
- Should any visitor or group of visitors to the University campus engage in conduct that is in violation of any University policy, that person or group may be asked to leave the campus by any faculty member or University official, including members of the University's Police Department. The SMU Police Department has the right to issue a Criminal Trespass Warning against any person(s) presenting a threat to the safety and/or well-being of the community and/or any member of the University community.
- Visitors who fail to leave the University campus when requested to do so will be reported to the University's Police Department, and a charge of trespassing may be filed in the Municipal Court of the City of University Park or the Justice of the Peace Court.
