About the Policies
University policies that have campus-wide application are intended to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, clarify institutional expectations, promote operational effectiveness, reduce operational risk, and enhance SMU's mission.
The University reserves the right to modify, add or delete policies in its discretion at any time. Members of the community may propose changes to the Policy Manual by suggesting such changes in writing to the Vice President or Provost responsible for the subject matter of the policy. No recommended change to any University policy shall become effective unless first approved in writing by the President's Executive Committee. The establishment of University policies that concern the intellectual and professional life of the General Faculty of the University shall be subject to review and recommendation by the Faculty Senate.
