Mohammed Abdelrazek Aboelela
Ph.D. Student, Department of Physics
Research Interests:
Mohammed’s studies specialize in experimental high-energy particle physics, working as a member of SMU’s ATLAS group. The SMU group makes major contributions to ATLAS, one of four major experiments at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, the European research organization that operates the world’s largest particle accelerator. Through this research, Mohammed hopes to achieve a better understanding of how and why nature looks the way it is, while pushing the frontiers of technology in hardware and software.
Road to the Moody School:
Mohammed grew up in Cairo, Egypt. After high school, he earned a full scholarship to study at Zewail City of Science, Technology and Innovation. There, he earned his B.S. with honors in 2020, majoring in physics, then pursuing opportunities at places such as Fermilab, the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (Italy) and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Russia). In his free time, Mohammed enjoys playing tennis and the drums, running marathons, sharing good meals with friends and attending rock concerts.
