Alumnus John Holiday (’07) Named Winner of the 2017 Marian Anderson Vocal Award
National Award Presented by Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Washington National Opera
Meadows voice alumnus and countertenor John Holiday (B.M. ’07) has won the 2017 Marian Anderson Vocal Award, presented by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Washington National Opera.
Holiday studied with Professor Barbara Hill-Moore at Meadows and won numerous prizes while an undergraduate, including being named first place winner of the TEXOMA region of the National Association of Teachers of Singing for three years in a row (2004-06) and first-place winner in his district at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2007. Since then, he has performed with major opera companies, orchestras and festivals nationwide and has continued to win major accolades and awards.
