Animals
Only service animals and animals featured in programs sponsored by SMU Libraries are allowed in the Libraries.
Building Access
- Fondren Library and Underwood Law Library have shortened guest access hours. You must show your SMU ID to enter or stay in the building after hours.
- Bridwell Library and Hamon Arts Library are open to everyone.
- Duda Family Business Library is closed to the general public. SMU-affiliated patrons or SMU alumni with valid library cards are welcome to use the library.
- DeGolyer Library is open by appointment only.
Food & Drink
All libraries allow drinks with a lid, except DeGolyer Library and other special collections areas. Food is allowed in Fondren Library, Hamon Arts Library, Underwood Law Library, and Duda Family Business Library. Food is not allowed in Bridwell Library. Please be considerate of others in the library and clean up trash. Report any spills to the desk in your library.
Filming in the Libraries
Commercial filming requests are handled by SMU Marketing and Communications. All other requests, please complete a Filming Request form at least 48 hours before the requested filming time.
Guest Computer Use
SMU Libraries does not have public computers, but all visitors to SMU campus may bring their own devices and connect to SMU Guest wifi. See our Guest Services page for more information about guest borrowing.
Privacy & Confidentiality
SMU Libraries protects the privacy and confidentiality of library patrons and their use of resources and services. See the University’s Privacy Statement for more information.
Tobacco
All tobacco products, including e-cigarettes and vapes, are prohibited inside SMU Libraries buildings.
