Friends of SMU Libraries

Friends of SMU Libraries, originally founded in 1970 as Colophon, is dedicated to promoting and enriching the resources, services and operations of the seven SMU Libraries. Friends hosts a series of programs each year for book lovers to become acquainted with each other and the many resources of SMU Libraries. Friends of SMU Libraries is committed to helping the libraries maintain their excellence and has funded over $1.5 million in materials and library services.

Grant Highlights

$2,500 to the Hawn Gallery at Hamon Arts Library for exhibition and programming expenses for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The Jalesia Horton Memorial Library School Scholarship

The Friends Library School Scholarship has been renamed in memory of SMU Libraries staff member Jalesia Horton. The scholarship is awarded each spring to staff members or interns enrolled in library school.
