Hex Rally Racers is a magical multiplayer arcade racing game for PC. Race as witches on flying brooms through spellbinding worlds to become the fastest witch in the land. Play with up to three friends at once in four-player split-screen, or race against up to seven AI racers for non-stop spell-slinging action! During the race, players can pick up ingredients on the track to craft unique spells that can be used as traps, boosts, or projectiles to leave other witches in the dust.
A unique part of Hex Rally Racers is our hex-crafting mechanic. While most racing games give players a random item, Players in Hex Rally Racers can choose a broom with access to the items they like the most, and seek out specific ingredients during the race to create the perfect item to win the race!
Hex Rally Racers was developed from concept to final project over three months by a 60 person team. During that time, we developed six polished racetracks in three unique magical environments, four varied brooms (karts), eight custom outfits for characters, and ten different battle items used in race. Our level design team learned to efficiently make quality racetracks using MRT (Modular Road Tool), as well as great competence in Unreal Engine. Our software development team made great strides in learning and developing AI, as well as making a robust physics system that supported our flying, swooping brooms. Our art team developed beautiful 2D and 3D assets: everything from the ground, sky, trees, buildings, and lakes in the world to the brooms, witches, and the cloaks they wear.

Catastrophe Factory is a top-down puzzle game where you guide a cat to escape a plushie-making factory! Navigate challenges such as crumbling floors, moveable walls, deadly lasers, and conveyor belts to make your way through 12 unique puzzles. Collect fish treats throughout your journey to keep the cat extra happy.
Our team chose this project because we love cute, relaxing puzzle games. We want our players to think more about strategy when playing our game. We focused on enjoyment and that “aha!” moment where the player finally figures a level out and is rewarded with a sense of accomplishment.
Catastrophe Factory was developed by a team of 6 developers over an 11-week development cycle. Throughout the process, our team learned more about the game development process and agile management techniques with scrum. We were able to learn about how to communicate with our different colleagues in cross-disciplinary fields as well as how to best communicate and pitch to project stakeholders. For the game itself, our team learned more about how to craft an engaging mobile game by creating understandable conveyance and tutorials, simple but fun mechanics, and a cute art style.

Missy, the border collie, lives on Farmer Bob's dilapidated farm. Farmer Bob is pressed for money and is about to sell his farm to repay old loans. Suddenly an alien spaceship looking similar to a massive cotton candy machine crash lands in his pasture. Amazingly, the machine activates and begins creating sheep with cotton candy wool, launching them all over the place! Now it’s up to Missy to herd the sheep into the appropriate pens so Farmer Bob can sell off the sugary goodness to save the farm! From a top-down perspective, herd sheep through the correct fruity syrup puddles and pens as you avoid obstacles left around the run-down property.
To create this idea, the developer team, Highroad 305, went through a process of brainstorming and squarely landed on the verb “Herd”. With this, the team expanded on the verb and developed the basis of Cotton Valley (known originally as Cotton Candy Herding). Highroad 305 wanted a game that focused on moving other pieces around a map rather than just a central character/player, adding an element of franticness and lack of control - similar to when someone is herding sheep in real life.
The Highroad 305 team worked during the Fall 2021 Semester in the Team Game Production 1 Class at SMU Guildhall. The project began in September of 2021 and there have been several iterations that happened prior to Beta over several months of work. Through this process, Highroad 305 learned the ins and outs of game design. From ideation to prototyping to marketing, the entire team learned how to manage time, stay within scope, communicate with stakeholders, and work together as a team. Team members also all now have an unexplained love of cotton candy.

Do No Evil is a platformer mobile game in which the player controls a small white robot, or a BubbleBot, using a Clean Beam. The Clean Beam is a stream of bubbles coming from the playable character that is used to propel off solid surfaces. This beam can be used to traverse the city, clean surfaces and people, and interact with the environment.
Do No Evil is set in a cyberpunk style city where an evil corporation called “Do No Evil” is polluting the city. Several humans have become trapped in the filth. Avoid electrical hazards, move around objects, and propel moving platforms to reach all the trapped citizens. Each level has a tracked percentage of cleanable surfaces, as well as a certain amount of people that need rescuing.
Do No Evil features diegetic design, so the level select is a playable location. The story is incorporated into the advertisements and background art throughout the game experience. There is one person that needs rescuing in level 1, two to be saved in level 2, and three to be cleaned in level 3. When each person is rescued, they provide encouragement and more insight into the story. The game is completed by traversing entirely though all 3 levels and rescuing all 6 citizens.
