After raising four children, Sabine Harvey started her career in higher education as lecturer of German at UTA. She became interim chair for Critical Languages and International Studies as well as permanent coordinator for the German section. At UTA, ‘Frau’ Harvey built up the study abroad program to Germany and, along with students of her theater classes, produced German language plays that were performed at the end of the semester. In addition, she was also instrumental in the construction of a replica of the Berlin wall that was displayed at various locations on campus at UTA during the 30 year celebration of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Furthermore, Sabine Harvey created new upper level German languages courses on Banned Books, Children’s Literature, German Cinema, and Drama, as well as Media in German Speaking Countries, to name a few. Although Sabine Harvey was mainly involved in the German area, she also taught courses on global issues and international film for many years.
