M.A., The University of Sheffield

After graduating from college, Leonard Evans took part in the JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) Program in Japan as an English/ESL teacher. After the JET Program, he studied and received his M.A. in Japanese Language and Society from the University of Sheffield in the UK. Leonard then worked as an adjunct at both Kawasaki Medical School and Kurashiki Sakuyo University in Kurashiki, Japan as an English and ESL instructor. All together he has lived and taught for seventeen years in Japan. Leonard then decided to continue his teaching career by coming back to the DFW area. After three and a half years teaching English and Social Studies at the junior and high school level, he then taught at the college level Japanese and ESL at both Collin College and Dallas Colleges - at Eastfield campus as an adjunct for ten years. At Collin College, Leonard was awarded 2022's Adjunct Professor of the Year. Currently, Leonard works as an adjunct lecturer of Japanese at the University of Texas at Dallas and full-time visiting lecturer at Southern Methodist University (SMU). Prior to his full-time post, he also worked as an adjunct lecturer at SMU's history department teaching East Asian History.
