Expectations and Standards
The Dedman Center’s ability to be open and serve our community relies on each of us taking personal responsibility to adhere to known and prescribed protective and safety measures and guidelines while practicing courtesy and respect with “good gym etiquette.”
If you are not willing or able to help us by following the standards and protocols outlined here, regardless of agreement, we ask that you refrain from visiting the Dedman Center.
All Members and Guest are expected to:
- Treat every student, member, and guest as they would like to be treated with respect, dignity, and courtesy.
- Abide by University and Dedman Center Policies, Mandates, and Rules and expect others to do the same.
- Adhere and follow Campus Recreation Staff directives and instructions.
- Report injuries, illness, and inappropriate or suspicious behaviors to the Dedman Center’s Operation Staff or Desk.
- Wear appropriate attire for the activity (See Rules and Protocols)
- Ask Dedman Center Operations for assistance if needed or not familiar with the operation or use of equipment, machines, rules, or protocols.
- Return Dedman Center check-out equipment to the desk in the condition it was given.
- Not use obscene and offensive behaviors or language including music loud enough for others to hear.
- Commit to role model proper gym etiquette:
- Cleaning equipment, machines, and mats after use;
- Picking up trash and equipment;
- Returning towels, equipment, and benches to proper locations;
- Racking own weights; and
- Don’t “homestead” on equipment or machines. Share when not using.
