Advisory Board
Department Mission
The Department of Education Policy and Leadership cultivates and supports leaders and researchers who seek to improve educational outcomes and the culture of learning in schools, colleges, and educational systems through leadership development, scholarship, and service.
The department is also dedicated to the preparation and continued education of education policy leaders. The department seeks to improve the quality and rigor of education policy research, development, and analysis and to encourage and facilitate the translation of research into policy and practice at the local, state, national, and international levels.

Advisory Board Mission
The Advisory Board is charged with helping shape the growth of programs within the Department of Education Policy and Leadership. Board members are currently providing their expertise and significant experience to address the following advisory responsibilities.
Basic Areas of Input for Advisory Committee per TAC §228.20(b)
Collaboration
- Meet at least twice per year
- Assist in the design, delivery, evaluation, and major policy decisions of the Education Preparation Program
Accountability
- Provide sufficient support for the graduate programs to meet all state and national standards
- Accountable for the quality of the program and the candidates that the program recommends for certification
Departmental Research
- Assist faculty in developing responsive research agendas that meet the demands of educational institutions serving PK-Higher education
- Provide insight into current education policy issues
