About
Stacy Ann Strang is the Assistant Director of the Simmons Center for VR Learning Innovation in the Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development at Southern Methodist University.
Strang hails from Maine where she earned her BA in Theatre Performance from the University of Southern Maine and trained at the National Michael Chekhov Association. Her early career was devoted to the pursuit of stage, screen and voice over work in New England and New York City, gaining a passion for improvisation and puppetry. She became a member of the prestigious Drama Desk nominated Workshop Theatre Company in NYC, performed a one-woman show at the International Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and worked in voice-over for the Smithsonian. Prior to joining Southern Methodist University, Strang was a registration manager for large-scale fundraising events and managed a toy demonstration team for SpinMaster Inc. in New York City.
Strang was always very eager to find a way to use her theatrical experience and training in a useful and creative way. In 2016 she found the perfect opportunity when she joined SMU as a Simulation Specialist to operate the Mursion Technology using live vocal performance, improvisation, and digital puppetry for teacher training. Over the years she has worked her way up the ranks to expand into simulation design and partnering on key research projects. She is passionate about integrating all forms of technology into the learning experience.
