SMU celebrates the legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
SMU students, faculty and staff celebrated the legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. on Thursday with the annual Unity Walk through the middle of the campus.
DALLAS (SMU) - SMU students, faculty and staff celebrated the legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. on Thursday with the annual Unity Walk through the middle of the campus.

The walk is part of Dream Week at SMU, which also included participation in Dallas's annual MLK Day Parade on Jan. 16 and will include MLK Service Day on Saturday, Jan. 28.
More than 450 members of the SMU community are expected to take part on the citywide service day, co-sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, Community Engagement & Leadership Center, SMU Panhellenic and SMU National Residence Hall Honorary.
Among the Dallas area orgainzations expected to benefit from the volunteer Service Day are the SPCA of Texas, Promise House, Inc., The Family Place, Foundation for C.H.O.I.C.E, North Texas Food Bank, Paul Quinn College – We Over Me Farm, Hope Supply Co., Dolphin Heights Community Garden, For The Love of The Lake, Goodwill, Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity, Trinity River Audubon Center, St. Phillips School and Community Center, and Habitat ReStores.
