SMU announces 2017 football schedule
- SMU today announced its highly-anticipated 2017 football schedule, a slate that is highlighted by seven games on the SMU campus.
DALLAS (SMU) - SMU today announced its highly-anticipated 2017 football schedule, a slate that is highlighted by seven games on the SMU campus. Visitors to Ford Stadium will include 2016 bowl teams Tulsa, UCF, Arkansas State and North Texas. Also visiting the Hilltop will be American Athletic Conference foes Tulane and UConn, as well as in-state opponent Stephen F. Austin.
SMU will open the season with its annual Whiteout on Sept. 2 by hosting SFA and will remain at home in week two, hosting North Texas on Sept. 9.
The annual Battle for the Iron Skillet will be played in Fort Worth this season, with SMU making the trip west on Sept. 16.
SMU will then host another back-to-back set with Arkansas State (Sept. 23) and UConn (Sept. 30) visiting the Hilltop to close out September.
The Mustangs will open October play in Space City on Oct. 7, facing host Houston, before the season's off weekend, and then will return to play on Oct. 21 when they travel to the Queen City to tackle host Cincinnati.
SMU will host its third set of back-to-back home games on Friday, Oct. 27, and Saturday, Nov. 4, when Tulsa and UCF, respectively, come to Dallas.
Road trips to Navy (Nov. 11) and Memphis (Nov. 18) round out the road portion of the schedule, and SMU will close out the regular season on Nov. 25 by hosting Tulane for Senior Day.
