Analyzing the first Presidential Debate

SMU Communication Studies Professor and Debate Director Ben Voth talked with Fox 4 News of Dallas about how President Barack Obama and GOP challenger Mitt Romney did in their first debate on Ocober 3, 2012.

Voth agreed with others who said Obama did not seem to do as well as Romney, noting, "I think he look a little off the game. . . It showed someone who hadn't debated in a while."

Talking about the importance of being prepared, Voth said, "As a debate coach, it makes me excited to see the difference practice makes. . .  I generally tell my debaters that practice is key."
