Senior Spotlight: Mikaila Neverson
Meadows' new Senior Spotlight series kicks off by highlighting Mikaila Neverson, a senior journalism major and CCPA minor who will be graduating with her B.A. this May.

The Meadows School of the Arts is proud to kick off our Senior Spotlight series with journalism major and corporate communication and public affairs (CCPA) minor Mikaila Neverson (B.A. ’25).
During her time at SMU, Neverson has made her mark in student media, serving as the news and podcast editor for The Daily Campus, SMU’s award-winning student publication. She also gained professional experience as an intern for The Dallas Morning News, where she covered the food and entertainment beat—a passion she hopes to turn into a career.
“My CCPA minor has helped refine my communication and writing skills as a journalist,” Neverson said. “I’ve been fortunate to gain hands-on experience both in and out of the classroom, and I’m grateful for all the experiences I’ve had at SMU.”
After graduation, Neverson will take the next step toward her dream of becoming a food writer by pursuing a master’s in journalism with a specialization in public life reporting at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Congratulations, Mikaila, on all your achievements and exciting next chapter!
