Meadows Assistant Professor of Art to Exhibit in Paris and Santa Fe
Spring and summer exhibitions will showcase recent works by Brian Molanphy, created during residencies in Europe
Assistant Professor of Art Brian Molanphy will exhibit recent works in two shows this spring and summer: “Tourniquet parabole bracero,” a solo exhibition at Galerie XXI in Paris, France, from April 21 through May 23, and “Sharbani Das Gupta & Brian Molanphy,” a two-person exhibition of ceramics at Santa Fe Clay in Santa Fe, New Mexico, June 5-July 18.
The exhibitions will feature selections from six series. A common theme is repetition in shadow, labor, desire and memory, especially influenced by the novel À la recherche du temps perdu (In Search of Lost Time) by Marcel Proust. Molanphy is on research leave during the 2014-15 school year and has been working on these series in artist residencies in Denmark and France.
