Watch This Video of SMU Music Alum John Campione Nailing "Don't Rain On My Parade"
WFAA Channel 8's Daybreak features performance from SMU vocal alum, Broadway Our Way team
Monday morning, when we were pressing the brew button on our coffee machines and attempting to access Wake Up Mode in our brains, SMU vocal alum John Campione was already singing. The song was "Don't Rain on My Parade," and Campione, who received his Bachelor of Music Degree from SMU Meadows in 2010 in vocal performance and music education, was live from WFAA's Daybreak at the crack of dawn. Alongside him was Kevin Gunter, who is in his seventh year as co-music director for the Uptown Players' annual Broadway Our Way fundraiser. The promo was in advance of the 2014 Uptown Players season. Held at the historic Frank Lloyd Wright-built Kalita Humphreys Theater in Dallas, Broadway Our Way is known for developing a new cast and songs each year. Since its inception, the theater's grown from a two-night event to six shows over two weekends.
