Graduate degree programs in music are designed to provide increased specialization in the major field beyond the undergraduate level, and at the same time to assure that students continue to develop the breadth of competencies required to function as well-rounded professionals.

While specific degree requirements vary according to the major field pursued, all Master of Music degree programs include the following components: performance, research, pedagogy, musicology and music theory. The Artist Diploma and Performer Diploma is intended for exceptional performers with a bachelor's degree or equivalent credentials who are in the final stages of preparation for a professional career.
