First-Generation Initiative

The First-Generation Initiative (FGI) was established in September 2019 by the Office of Student Persistence and Achievement. By helping first-generation students navigate the complexities that stem from being in college, their mission is to provide a support system and network that allows students to flourish. First-generation students are designing new legacies; the office want to serve as a guide and provide the resources needed as they embark upon the pathway to success.

Office of Social Change and Intercultural Engagement

The Office of Social Change and Intercultural Engagement connects students with opportunities to engage with and learn from the SMU campus, Dallas community, and beyond. The office prioritizes advocacy and awareness through immersive community engagement experiences and social justice education.

Rotunda Scholars

The Rotunda Scholars Program (Rotunda) aims to help first-year students achieve early success at SMU by promoting academic achievement, leadership, and personal excellence.

SMU Chaplain and Religious Life

The Office of the Chaplain and Religious Life promotes moral and ethical leadership development. They provide pastoral care, welcome, and hospitality for SMU’s religiously diverse community.

SMU Counseling Services

Counseling Services is dedicated to supporting the mental health needs of SMU students.  A variety of options are available whether it’s meeting one of the staff counselors at the Health Center, accessing the network of mental health providers offered online, or utilizing some of the resources available for self-help

Women and LGBT Center

The Women and LGBT Center empowers students to increase awareness and understanding of gender equity issues. The center gives voice for women and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community, with purpose to eliminate barriers, diminish prejudices, and create a supportive climate and space for all.
