Biography

Cheyenne Conkin’s passion for higher education started during her time at Mississippi State University. As an ambassador, she worked with prospective students to help them discover where they fit in on campus. Since then, her interests in higher education have grown as she’s had opportunities to recruit students from multiple different backgrounds and foster personal relationships with them and their families.

Conkin graduated from Mississippi State with a Bachelor of Arts in French, a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and a Master of Business Administration with an Emphasis in Public Relations. Currently, she is pursuing her Ph.D. in Education, Leadership and Organization with an emphasis in Higher Education.

Prior to coming to SMU, Conkin worked for The University of Texas at Arlington where she led the High Caliber Recruitment Team and spearheaded critical diversity recruitment programs. Prior to that, she was the Academic Recruiter for the College of Liberal Arts at UT Arlington and the Recruitment & Marketing coordinator for the College of Business at Mississippi State University.

Although Conkin does not have a background in the arts, she looks forward to helping young artists find their home at SMU. She is motivated by inclusivity, creating spaces for all students to be successful and continues to cultivate that within the Meadows community. 

When she is not out recruiting, Conkin enjoys travelling and reading.
