Pederson Broadcast Studio

The professional control room and studio are equipped with all the equipment students need to produce TV news. Students learn to operate professional cameras, a Grass Valley video switcher, teleprompter, CG, Still Store, and an on-air server. Every weekday, students produce, write and crew a news show covering SMU news, as well as local and national news. Students shoot and edit their own news packages and video elements, and they also have access to CNN feeds and other industry standard newsfeeds. Students also produce, write and crew a weekly Spanish language news show and a weekly sports show. They learn to handle every aspect of creating a successful news broadcast.
