Empowering Tomorrow's Tech Business Leaders
SMU Cox School of Business and SMU Lyle School of Engineering established the Hart Institute for Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, or HI-TIE, as a co-venture in 2019. Founded through the gracious support of Linda and Mitch Hart, HI-TIE provides SMU students with the opportunity to build and create new products and processes for the marketplace and develop business plans to determine how best to take these products to the world. It provides the perfect blend of engineering and business students working together to produce and commercialize new technologies, innovations and research.

Inspiration is the first step toward innovation. The Hart Institute for Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a place where students can nurture inspiration, supported by industry experts, and guided by best practices.
Programs
Mentors
Become a mentor or a mentee. The Hart Institute offers students mentorship opportunities with seasoned industry pros.
Partnerships
Partner with SMU organizations like the Deason Innovation Gym, the Entrepreneurship Club, Big Ideas, and the O'Donnell Institute.
Projects
Conduct technology-driven projects with a path to commercialization. A focus on AI or Generative AI is preferred.
Teaching
Take graduate or undergraduate courses in entrepreneurship that cut across Cox School of Business and Lyle School of Engineering.
