Submissions to the Journal of Air Law and Commerce
To increase both the efficiency and effectiveness of our article review process, the Journal of Air Law and Commerce accepts electronic submissions through Scholastica and email at jacleic@smu.edu.
Authors
The Journal of Air Law and Commerce welcomes article submissions from all authors including international authors, though submissions from judges and practitioners in aviation or space law are preferred. The journal publishes four times each year and typically accepts unsolicited submissions for the summer, fall, and winter issues.
Format
Times 12-point font is required for all submissions. Additionally, submissions must contain footnote, not endnote, citations that conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation or, when appropriate, The Greenbook: Texas Rules of Style.
What to Include
- A cover letter containing the author’s contact information and the title of the manuscript
- A resume or curriculum vitae for the author
- An abstract on a separate page
- A copy of the manuscript, which must include a Word version of the document.
JALC has no minimum or maximum page requirements for submissions, though brevity is valued. The average manuscript has no less than 150 footnotes.
Expedited Review
The journal will do its best to accommodate expedite requests during the academic year. Requests should be sent to jalceic@smu.edu with “Expedite Request” as the subject. In addition, please provide the title of any other publication currently making a publication offer along with the respective decision deadline. We are not able to perform expedited reviews during the summer.
Questions
Questions regarding submissions policies should be directed to jalceic@smu.edu.
