Enrico Hernandez, Class of 2022
Tell us about yourself (where are your from, your undergrad school, major, what you did prior to coming to SMU, anything interesting, etc.)?
My name is Enrico, but everyone just calls me Enzo. I grew up in the Philippines and went to Wichita State for undergrad. I was a (professional) bowler and bowled collegiately.
What is your favorite thing to do in Dallas?
I love all the sporting events that you can go to in Dallas. You’ve got basketball, football, hockey, soccer, and everything else in between.
Why did you decide to come to SMU Law?
I decided to come to SMU because I really liked Dallas. A lawyer advised me to choose the law school that is in the city you like most and I took that advice.
What advice would you give anyone applying to Law School?
Take the LSAT seriously. It’s the biggest factor as far as law school admissions.
What classes are you enrolled in this semester?
This semester I’m taking Legislation and Regulations, Torts, Contracts, Criminal Law, and Legal Writing.
When you are not in school or studying, what do you do for fun?
I love basketball and football so I’ll be watching games on TV or in person. I’m also into cars so if there’s an interesting event that’s car related, I’ll probably be there as well.
What extracurricular activities are you interest in at SMU Law?
I’m interested joining some student organizations. I think they’re a great way to get involved with the SMU Law community and the Dallas legal community.
How do you think law school will challenge you most?
I’ve never been a big reader so I think that’s where the biggest challenge lies. Classes in law school require you to read and understand dozens of pages worth of information.
What do you think you would like to do after graduation?
I’d like to end up at a law firm that does corporate law, international law, sports law, or finance law. I’m a 1L though so that might change.
