From the President

R Gerald Turner

Our generous donors have committed more than $1.3 billion toward SMU Ignited: Boldly Shaping Tomorrow and our $1.5 billion goal. Your support creates opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to accelerate knowledge and tackle important challenges.

This month, we celebrated the dedication of the David. B. Miller Business Quadrangle, the home of the Edwin L. Cox School of Business. The new and renovated facilities increase the school’s footprint by nearly a third and enable students to become prepared for an ever-more collaborative and technologically integrated world.

In this issue, you can read about new gifts that expand scholarship opportunities for students in engineering, law, and the arts – and that enhance research and educational initiatives related to the study of presidential history. Additionally, you can explore how members of the SMU community make a difference in chemistry, art history, and supporting victims of crime – all empowered by earlier donors.

This quarter’s Q&A puts a spotlight on the importance of planned giving, which enables donors to magnify their impact on the world well into the future.

As we approach July 1 and our entrance into the ACC, we remind everyone to become part of our effort to set a record for the number of Mustang Club donors. When you give a gift of any size toward the Garry Weber End Zone Complex – which we will dedicate September 6 – or any other area of SMU Athletics, you help ensure our student-athletes have an unprecedented level of support as they compete during our first year in the ACC.

Thank you for all you do for our University and future generations of Mustangs.

Pony Up!
