Resources for SMU Students

Libraries: There are plenty of options for libraries at SMU because there are 6 on campus! Fondren Library Center is most popular with students and is open 24 hours during the regular semester. Fondren also contains a newly opened Starbucks! You can learn how to research more effectively by consulting with one of our reference librarians. SMU’s Office of Information Technology: The Office of Information Technology has a help desk located in the Fondren Library West lobby. The help desk offers help with a variety of computer and software-related problems. Click here for more information on their services. Altshuler Learning Enhancement Center (A-LEC): The A-LEC is a great place to go for help with your studies. A-LEC offers tutoring and contains the writing center that is staffed by English department faculty. Click here to check the schedule for a tutor or sign up for a writing appointment.

Disability Accommodations & Success Strategies (DASS): Located in the A-LEC, DASS is available to help students and their professors reach appropriate accommodations. DASS also offers support for students with learning disabilities and ADHD. Click here for more information.

 

  • Dining Services: There are two cafeteria-style dining services at SMU and a multitude of other dining options on and near campus including: Mac’s Place, Chick-fil-A, Subway, Einstein Bros, and Starbucks. SMU offers meal plans to all SMU students. Click here for hours of operation and information on meal plans.

  • Dr. Bob Smith Health Center: SMU’s health center provides services to SMU students including medical appointments, flu shots, counseling services, and health education. Click here for more information. You can also call the Nurse Advice Line with medical questions at 214-768-3194 during normal business hours.

  • Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports: A membership to the Dedman Center allows you to access the on-campus gym. There are basketball courts, an indoor track, a climbing wall, fitness machines, and a pool. Join in on the free WellPower group fitness classes or purchase a VIP pass for specialty classes. Hughes-Trigg Student Center

Parking and ID Services Office: Pick up your SMU ID and parking permit here!  You must have a permit to park on campus. Parking and ID Services Office also offers discounted DART passes to students. Find out more information here.

Hegi Family Career Center: Home to career counseling, assessment, and help with résumé writing. The center hosts a variety of specialized career fairs throughout the year. Click here for more information.

  • Laura Lee Blanton Building

    Registrar’s Office: Home to the Office of Non-Degree Credit Studies. Schedule a meeting if you have questions about registering or need help making schedule changes. The Registrar’s Office also answers questions about transcripts and academic policies. Click here for more information.
