Shriya Siddhartha

Shriya Siddhartha is from Frisco, Texas. She intends to pursue the Pre-Health track, majoring in Biochemistry and Health and Society with minors in Neuroscience and Public Policy and International Affairs. Shriya is also a Dedman College Scholar and an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Lippert Lab where she is studying chemical biology. Shriya describes herself as a curious and inquisitive individual and has independently written research papers in neuroscience throughout high school; she is currently working on a research paper on international health policy. At SMU, Shriya serves on the Executive Board for the Dedman College Scholars and is an Ambassador for the South Asian Student Association. Outside of research and medicine, Shriya is incredibly passionate about music and is an accomplished singer and violinist. She has been learning Carnatic (South Indian Classical) vocal music for ten years and regularly gives concerts with her sister. As her true passion lies in serving others through science and her research, Shriya is incredibly passionate about legislation that targets disparities in global healthcare and research. She aims to complete an MD-PhD program that will best equip her with the tools to bring the impacts of her research to the international health policy stage.
