Laura Razzolini
Laura completed her Ph.D. under the supervision of Professor Rajat Deb in 1994 and joined the Department of Economics at the University of Mississippi in Fall 1994. She received tenure and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2001. In 2004, she moved to Virginia Commonwealth University where she was promoted to full Professor in 2008. She has been at the University of Alabama since Fall 2017 and is the Department Head.
Laura's primary research areas are experimental economics and public finance. Her research has regularly appeared in top journals including Journal of Economic Perspectives, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Experimental Economics, Journal of Economic Thoery, Economic Thoery and Economic Letters.
From 2003 to 2019, Laura was the Editor of the Southern Economic Journal. Although having stepped down from that role, she is still a Senior Associate Editor there.
My publication in JET came about because, as I was reading the paper before the Friday seminar, I found a mistake in the proof..... I talked it over with Raj Deb and we talked it over with the presenter.... and I ended up with a paper in JET! The message here is: 1) always go to seminars and 2) read the paper if it is close to your field of interest....
