The Office of General Education is passionate about helping students complete their Proficiency & Experience (P&E) requirements through co-curricular activities. Our Common Curriculum Reading program offers undergraduate students a unique opportunity to join a reading group focusing on books relevant to SMU’s P&Es. 

These student workshops are dedicated to the course petitioning process. They will also cover Degree Progress Reports (DPR) and Transfer Evaluation Records (TER). Please see our upcoming petition workshops:

  • February 6, 2024 from 2pm-3pm in Hughes-Trigg room 130
  • March 20, 2024 from 11am-12pm in Hughes-Trigg room 130
  • April 11, 2024 from 11am-12pm in Hughes-Trigg room 130

If students aren't able to attend our workshops we offer Pop-Ups during each term. These are 2 hour long tabling events where students can stop by and ask any questions regarding their curriculum.

The Peer Academic Leaders (PALs) are a group of undergraduate students at SMU who dedicate their time to helping their fellow Mustangs succeed academically. They offer a variety of programs throughout the semester with topics ranging from Degree Planner, the Common Curriculum, study tips, SMU resources, and many more.
