Energy Projects

Dallas Hall through the seasons

Energy Programs include campus wide energy savings initiatives as well as individual or one time energy conservation projects that result in a measurable reduction in energy demand and consumption. SMU is committed to improving energy efficiency to minimize impact of the cost of utilities and new construction.
Long-term and seasonal energy conservation measures (ECM) are benchmarked and monitored carefully.
Upon implementation, measured results are analyzed and reported.

Objective: Maximize energy saving during the winter break

(December 21, 2019- January 5, 2020)

Description

Adjust Building Automation System scheduler to match specified vacancy days during the winter break. During this period, no kitchen staff nor dining services are required. Building was set to “Unoccupied” mode.

* All dining facilities were set to unoccupied mode during the winter break. However, as Arnold Dining is an isolated facility, all savings can be attributed to the suspension of dining services.
