Using the Journal Entry Upload Template-Academic Areas

Using the Journal Entry (JE) Upload Template (non-grant)

  • The JE upload template can be found here.

  • The linked template allows the academic Accounting Liaison to upload data into PeopleSoft Financials instead of typing individual rows and fields. You can cut and paste onto the template from other Excel documents or provide the Excel source document(s) [not PDFs] to the academic Accounting Liaison at JEProcessing@smu.edu.

  • If you cut and paste into the JE upload template you will need to make sure not to exceed the number of characters indicated for each field on the template.

  • The JE upload template is not required but strongly suggested for any JEs longer than 6 rows. However, the academic Accounting Liaisons may accept any source document that provides sufficient detail on what needs to be accomplished.

  • You can insert rows to the document beyond the 65 rows if needed or remove excess rows as long as the last row on the original template is not deleted.

  • When requesting a correction to salary and benefit lines, you need to include SMU ID numbers in the reference column of the template as this will drive the data to also adjust on the salary and benefit reports (PP425) which is important for your Financial Business Manager and academic leadership.

For additional assistance using the JE Upload Template, please contact the assigned Accounting Liaison for your academic area.
