Information Technology Governance Councils

SMU faculty, staff, and administration are members of the functional, strategic, and executive-level councils.

These councils provide review and approval of projects that support the University's goals and objectives.

Functional Level

Faculty Technology Council   Serves as a primary steward of SMU's academic technology strategy
Data Warehouse & Analytics Council DWAC Provides guidance and direction to data administrators, or those with data management influence
Enterprise Application Council EAC Provides guidance for continuous improvement in the use of the Enterprise software
Information Security Advisory Council ISAC Assists with timely enforcement of security policies and practices

Advisory Level

CIO Student Advisory Board CIO SAB Provides input on IT initiatives and their impact on the student body
O’Donnell Data Science and Research Computing Institute ODSRCI
Collaborate with the researchers to provide high-performance infrastructure
Architecture and Infrastructure   Create network and server infrastructure to run IT at SMU

Strategic Level

Council of Deans CoD Serves to ensure IT Strategy is aligned with academic areas
Information Technology Leadership Council ITLC Serves to ensure IT Strategy is aligned with academic and business areas

Executive Level

President's Executive Council PEC Provides oversight for all University activities
