Rev. Dr. Margot Perez-Greene Joins Perkins as Associate Dean of Enrollment Management

DALLAS (SMU) – Rev. Dr. Margot Perez-Greene, a higher-education professional with more than 20 years of administrative experience, has been appointed Associate Dean for Enrollment Management at Perkins School of Theology, effective July 1.

In this new role for the school, Dr. Perez-Greene will be responsible for crafting a vision for Perkins’ recruitment and admissions strategies, identifying and reaching out to prospective students for the school’s masters’ and doctoral degrees. Additionally, she will lead a staff responsible for all phases of recruitment, retention and financial aid as well as cultivate relationships with key ordained and lay church leaders to assist those called to ministry through the admissions process.

“Margot’s vast experience in many realms of graduate learning, coupled with her background in ministry, make her an ideal fit for this new role,” said Dr. Craig C. Hill, dean of Perkins School of Theology. “She fully understands the dynamics of what this position entails, and I am confident that she will make an immediate impact on the Perkins community.”

Dr. Perez-Greene, who earned the Master of Divinity degree from Perkins in 2011, is an ordained Elder in the Rio Texas Annual Conference. She most recently served as Senior Pastor at First United Methodist Church in El Campo, Texas, and previously was an Associate Pastor at Tarrytown United Methodist Church in Austin.  She has also served as a member of the Perkins Alumni/ae Council.

Prior to her ministerial work, Dr. Perez-Greene worked in a variety of roles in higher-education – including administrative positions at Iowa State, the Texas State Technical College System, The University of Texas at Austin, and community college systems in Texas, Ohio and Iowa. She began her educational career in the Austin Independent School District before teaching at schools in El Paso and in Arizona.

She is a graduate of St. Edward’s University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and Sociology. Dr. Perez-Greene also earned a Master of Arts degree in Counselor Education from Arizona State University as well as a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from The University of Texas at Austin.

Perkins School of Theology, founded in 1911, is one of five official University-related schools of theology of The United Methodist Church. Degree programs include the Master of Divinity, Master of Sacred Music, Master of Theological Studies, Master of Arts in Ministry, Master of Theology, Doctor of Ministry, and Doctor of Pastoral Music as well as the Ph.D., in cooperation with The Graduate Program in Religious Studies at SMU’s Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences.
