This Lunch & Learn event features Dr. Susanne Johnson, associate professor of Christian Education at Perkins, with a presentation titled Hidden in Plain Sight: Perspectives on Injustice. “When Jesus announces ‘recovery of sight to the blind’ (Luke 4:18-19),” Dr. Johnson says, “he alludes that people of faith don’t have a compassion problem as much as we having trouble seeing what’s going on ‘hidden in plain sight.’ Theological education,” Johnson adds, “seeks to train our sight and equip us to respond in ways that are compelling and consequential for the life of the world.”

In addition to Dr. Johnson’s presentation on March 31, upcoming Lunch & Learn events will feature Dr. Thomas Spann, professor of Supervised Ministry, speaking on “Internship: Doing Ministry and Theology in the Traffic at the Intersection” (April 21, 2014); and Dr. Jaime Clark-Soles, associate professor of New Testament, with a presentation titled “Do You Wish to Be Made Well? (John 5:6) – The Bible and Disability” (May 12, 2014).

The Houston-Galveston Extension Program of Perkins School of Theology, which periodically hosts Lunch & Learn events for prospective students, also welcomes alumni, friends and any other guests who might be interested.
